Sani Marc's green expertise

Reducing our environmental footprint

To ensure better environmental integration throughout all stages of a product life cycle, we rely on ecodesign at Sani Marc. This approach helps us identify the main impact factors of a product in order to improve its environmental and toxicological characteristics.

A score is given to the product based on its environmental and toxicological profiles based on 10 factors.

Biodegradability

A product is said to be biodegradable if it can be decomposed naturally by living organisms. Biodegradability is characterized by the ease and speed of decomposition at the same time.

Skin corrosiveness

Skin corrosiveness is the ability to produce damage to the skin when it comes into contact with the product.

Flammability

Flammability is the ability of a material to ignite more or less rapidly on contact with a flame, spark or high temperature.

Oral toxicity

Oral toxicity is the adverse effect that results from the oral administration of a chemical.

Aquatic ecotoxicity

Aquatic ecotoxicity is the assessment of the toxic effects of chemical agents on aquatic species: fish, invertebrates, algae, and bacteria.

CMR substances

A CMR substance is a compound that is carcinogenic and/or mutagenic and/or teratogenic and/or toxic for reproduction. A carcinogen or carcinogenic is a factor that causes, aggravates, or sensitizes the development of cancer.

VOC substance

A volatile organic compound (VOC) is a chemical substance consisting of at least one carbon and one hydrogen atom. Several of these compounds are involved in photochemical reactions responsible for the formation of ground-level ozone.

Renewable content of raw materials

This is an assessment of the percentage of raw materials that are from renewable sources. A renewable source is a natural resource that can be replenished within a short period of time on a human scale.

End of life

These products are assessed according to the ease of treatment at the end of their life. The presence of certain compounds in the finished product makes its disposal at the end of life difficult.

Dilution

This criterion evaluates the addition of water to the product before use. A more concentrated product will be more environmentally friendly in terms of packaging and transport.

Using biotechnology in our products

VERT-2-GO BIO products are biotechnology-based, helping you reduce your environmental footprint and negative impact on air quality.

These effective products extend their cleaning action into the pipe where they are used or discharged. The micro-organisms in the products feed on the organic matter in the pipe, allowing odour control and drain maintenance. They are safe for the user and do not give off irritating fumes.

Ecologo certified products

Our VERT-2-GO and ENVIROLOGIC product formulas are EcoLogo certified, the only official certification in Canada that guarantees compliance with strict environmental standards.

EcoLogo certified products mean a smaller environmental footprint and greater safety for users.

Environmental practices training

To help our clients master environmentally friendly best practices when using our cleaning products, we’ve incorporated a Wood Wyant training component into our green and sustainable cleaning program that covers cleaning techniques, proper use of chemicals and equipment, filtration and how to avoid cross-contamination.
