Environmental Impact

At Sani Marc, safety and respect for the planet are at the heart of our priorities.

From our head office in Victoriaville, we’ve developed sustainable and ecological solutions for our clients based on these pillars:

  • Ecodesign
  •  UL EcoLogo® certification
  • Environmental best practices training
  • Innovation

Our Ecodesign approach

To enhance the environmental performance of our products

At Sani Marc, we use eco-design to ensure environmental considerations are fully integrated into product development. This approach allows us to identify the main impact factors of a product and improve its environmental and toxicological profile.

Each product is scored based on ten measured criteria that reflect its environmental and toxicological performance.

Biodegradability

A product is said to be biodegradable if it can be decomposed naturally by living organisms. Biodegradability is characterized by the ease and speed of decomposition at the same time.

Skin corrosiveness

Skin corrosiveness is the ability to produce damage to the skin when it comes into contact with the product.

Flammability

Flammability is the ability of a material to ignite more or less rapidly on contact with a flame, spark or high temperature.

Oral toxicity

Oral toxicity is the adverse effect that results from the oral administration of a chemical.

Aquatic ecotoxicity

Aquatic ecotoxicity is the assessment of the toxic effects of chemical agents on aquatic species: fish, invertebrates, algae, and bacteria.

CMR substances

A CMR substance is a compound that is carcinogenic and/or mutagenic and/or teratogenic and/or toxic for reproduction. A carcinogen or carcinogenic is a factor that causes, aggravates, or sensitizes the development of cancer.

VOC substance

A volatile organic compound (VOC) is a chemical substance consisting of at least one carbon and one hydrogen atom. Several of these compounds are involved in photochemical reactions responsible for the formation of ground-level ozone.

Renewable content of raw materials

This is an assessment of the percentage of raw materials that are from renewable sources. A renewable source is a natural resource that can be replenished within a short period of time on a human scale.

End of life

These products are assessed according to the ease of treatment at the end of their life. The presence of certain compounds in the finished product makes its disposal at the end of life difficult.

Dilution

This criterion evaluates the addition of water to the product before use. A more concentrated product will be more environmentally friendly in terms of packaging and transport.

Ecologo® certified products

At Sani Marc | Wood Wyant, we’re proud to offer more than 100 chemical and paper products certified under the UL ECOLOGO® standard.

UL ECOLOGO® is one of the most rigorous and widely recognized environmental certifications in North America. It takes into account the entire life cycle of a product—from manufacturing to disposal—to ensure it meets strict sustainability criteria.

This respected certification reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions designed to minimize environmental impact while upholding high standards of performance and quality.

Why choose UL ECOLOGO® certified products?

Our certified products are designed to:

  • Reduce toxicity: Fewer harmful substances mean less air and water pollution, and lower risks to human health and ecosystems.
  • Support sustainable resources: Ingredients are sourced responsibly to help preserve natural resources.
  • Lower emissions: More energy-efficient production helps reduce carbon footprint.
  • Improve biodegradability: Formulas break down more easily in the environment.
  • Minimize waste: Packaging is made from recycled and recyclable materials to reduce landfill contributions.

Biotechnology in our products

Among our UL ECOLOGO® certified options, VERT-2-GO BIO products are powered by biotechnology and contain probiotics—live microorganisms that break down dirt for a deeper clean.

Count on probiotic-based cleaners to:

  • – Deliver the same cleaning results as traditional products
  • – Continue working on surfaces long after application
  • – Adopt formulations with fewer traditional chemical compounds known for their negative environmental impact

Environmental practices training

Train your teams in sustainable cleaning practices

At Sani Marc | Wood Wyant we help our clients adopt the best eco-friendly cleaning practices, we’ve integrated a specialized training component into our sustainable cleaning program. Developed by the Sani Marc | Wood Wyant team, the training covers cleaning techniques, proper product and equipment use, filtration, and methods to prevent cross-contamination.

Our team is also ISSA-certified enabling us to support clients in implementing responsible cleaning programs that meet the highest industry standards.

Partnered with universities and research centres

Collaborating to build a more sustainable future

Our partnerships with universities and research centers enable us to explore solutions rooted in the principles of green chemistry. These principles aim to design processes that reduce environmental impact from the earliest stages of development. These collaborations have led to the creation of packaging made from recycled or renewable materials, the use of naturally sourced ingredients such as biodegradable biocides, and the study of valuable industrial by-products like chitosan. All of these efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting more sustainable industrial practices.
